Eric Ripert and José Andrés Designate June 25 As Bourdain Day

In a lovingly comic video yesterday, the chefs Eric Ripert and José Andrés announced a day of remembrance for the late, great Anthony Bourdain. Set for his birthday on June 25, Bourdain Day will celebrate the the life and legacy of their friend.

Andrés helpfully translated Ripert’s French-accented English into his own Spanish-accented English, and the two chefs shared how you can toast to Bourdain by each doing so with a porron. The two chefs are asking people to also share tributes and memories on June 25, which no doubt there will be plenty and plenty of. Following the announcement, Bourdain Day pretty much immediately started trending on Twitter.

June 8 will mark the one year anniversary of Bourdain’s death, which caused an outpouring of mourning. On May 28, his former publisher Ecco released Anthony Bourdain Remembered, a collection of photographs and quotes compiled by CNN. In an interview with Grub, Ecco (and Bourdain’s) publisher Dan Halpern called the book “a very intense and very moving experience.”
