Jewish Bakery and Butcher Received Letters With a Swastika and Trump’s ‘MAGA’ Slogan

An unknown individual sent hate letters to seven businesses and the Israeli consulate in New York, DNAinfo reports. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is reportedly investigating the letters, which begin with a swastika, followed by President Donald Trump’s charged campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” In addition to the consulate, the author sent letters to kosher butcher Satmar Meat Shop, Jewish bakery Weiss, two Sheepshead Bay law offices, a jewelry store and Starbucks in Harlem, and the Harlem Business Alliance.

Along with the swastika, the letters contain racist slurs and threatening language, including a Nazi-era phrase meaning “Jews out,” “Negros and faggots must burn in hell,” and “Christian identity is back.” The owner of Weiss Bakery reached out to its assemblyman Dov Hikind, a Democrat who has supported racial profiling of Muslims, made inflammatory comments about gay marriage, and once hosted a Purim party in blackface. After going to the bakery, he filed a complaint with police and released a statement in which he says, “We’re not waiting for an incident before addressing a threat.”
