Last year, reports of someone in Britain spending nearly $100,000 on a single bottle of McDonald’s Big Mac Special Sauce splattered their way all across the internet. At the time, the bottle was special. No more. On January 26 — two days from now — the Golden Arches plans to give away 10,000 bottles of the stuff for free to celebrate the fact that it’s offering the Big Mac in different sizes for a limited time.
So far, details are limited: The 11.4-ounce bottles will be available in limited quantities at select locations. McD’s, however, won’t reveal which ones until tomorrow, probably in an effort to drum up anticipation for a condiment you can basically just buy at the grocery store already. That sticker price sounds about right, considering Big Mac Special Sauce is just a name for what basically amounts to Thousand Island dressing doctored up with some artificial ingredients. McDonald’s, however, claims that there is nothing else like Big Mac Special Sauce, “which is unique” to the chain and “timeless” and definitely, promise, not just Thousand Island.
