Any burger pursuit worth her weight in griddle grease will tell you that, fancy buns be damned, less is more. This maxim has reached its inevitable conclusion at the Japanese restaurant Shake Tree, which in the great tradition of pseudo-sandwiches like KFC’s Double Down, has eliminated the bun entirely … and replaced it with two beef patties stuffed with the usual fixings. Called the “Wild Out,” it costs just $12 — a serious bargain for a totally new take on the gluten-free cheeseburger.
