David Chang Says Security at Trump Tower Is ‘Killing’ His Midtown Restaurants

David Chang was hardly a Trump supporter before (after the election, he tweeted: “North Korea never looked so good”), but ever since the addition of the hellishly sprawling security apparatus outside Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, the president-elect has fallen even further out of favor with the Momofuku chef:

Chang’s Chambers Hotel compound on West 56th Street — the location of Má Pêche, Fuku+, and a Milk Bar — is just 400 feet from Trump Tower, whose surrounding block critics note has been militarized to the point of resembling “the urban equivalent of the security line at JFK.”

Of course, Chang isn’t the only one pessimistic about the consequences for businesses within a block or two of Trump Tower, which is also located near the restaurants Betony, Aquavit, BLT Steak, the Polo Bar, Benihana, Lavo, and the uptown Tao.

These restaurateurs also got a little more bad news this weekend, when the Post reported Melania isn’t planning to decamp from the Trump penthouse until Barron’s school year ends — in June:
