Jared Fogle Tells Court Parents ‘Failed to Properly Supervise’ One of His Victims

What could disgraced former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle possibly do to lower people’s opinions of a man already in prison for possessing kiddie porn, soliciting sex with minors, and begging moms to let him film their own children? Several media outlets report that he’s decided to file a motion claiming the parents of one of his victims actually created the spiral of depression, suicidal thoughts, and substance abuse she’s suing him for causing because he abused her from 2011 to 2015. Fogle blames the parents (identified only as “B.T.” and “J.T.” to keep the girl anonymous) for his crime because they “failed to properly supervise” her. He wants them named third-party defendants so they can be held liable “for all or part” of the complaints in their daughter’s $150,000 lawsuit.

Fogle’s lawyers write that B.T. and J.T. “maintained a hateful and abusive relationship toward each other, which included, but was not limited to, engaging in frequent fighting and arguing between themselves; abusing alcohol and getting drunk; and engaging in frequent fighting, physical abuse, and arguing with Jane Doe.” Their actions, so Fogle claims, “caused Jane Doe to suffer from emotional distress and depression” that resulted in her “engaging in destructive behaviors, including, but not limited to alcohol abuse, substance abuse, self-mutilation, and suicidal ideation with regard to which B.T. and J.T. are liable.”

Legal claims like this are likely to only earn him more enemies in prison.
