Domino’s Driver Tries to Imitate Chain’s Wheelie Ad, Promptly Crashes

Do not attempt at home.

A Domino’s pizza guy who felt called to greatness tried to go Evil Knievel on his moped this weekend, and, well, the results were precisely the disaster you’re imagining. Twitter user @MY57R0 managed to get most of the performance on video when he fortuitously found himself on the stretch of the busy London street where this driver decided to showcase his wheelie skills:

If this weren’t funny enough already, the failed wheelie also looks suspiciously like a sad re-creation of the chain’s “Greatness” ads — a 2013 campaign documenting the lengths to which Domino’s drivers will go for customers who “won’t settle for ordinary and demand great.” The ad’s hero was supposed to be a guy who drove his moped like Gene Autry rode Champion the Wonder Horse.

Needless to say, the company wasn’t thrilled with amateur stunt hour. “The safety of the public and of our colleagues is of paramount importance and this is clearly wholly unacceptable behaviour,” a statement says. “We have launched an investigation to find the driver concerned and take appropriate action.”
