The upside to sweating in late winter is that eating frozen dessert feels somewhat sensible. Conveniently, Dairy Queen’s annual Free Cone Day is today, which means anybody who’s a little freaked out by the potential effects of global warming can at least assuage their concerns with some soft-serve. All day, participating locations around the country will hand out one free small vanilla cone (which would normally run you about two bucks) to every person who asks. A midsummer-y brain freeze sounds like a festive way to celebrate the warm weather, and DQ asks you to share your exuberance by donating to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital while you’re at it.
