The Tipping Game

The sides are being drawn in the national tipping debate. Speaking to a crowd last night at Manhattan’s Javits Center after her Super Tuesday win, Hillary Clinton declared her support for a $15 federal minimum wage, praised Governor Andrew Cuomo for his support of the Fight for $15 movement, and called for an end to the tipped minimum wage. While she did not comment on Danny Meyer’s Hospitality Included, the presidential hopeful came out pretty firmly as team no-tipping, giving America flak for being the “only industrialized country in the world that requires tipped workers to take home their income in tips, instead of wages.” No word, though, on whether Clinton also hates “how is everything?” or if she dined at one of New York’s no-tipping restaurants.
