It looks like dollar-dumpling destination Prosperity Dumpling will reopen, as rumored, in a new location at 365 Broome Street, following last year’s food-safety scandal. The restaurant has been closed since the summer, when it was shut down following a report that workers were preparing food in an unsanitary alley.
That story, unsurprisingly, caught the Department of Health’s attention, and Prosperity racked up 65 violation points for a litany of reasons, including filth flies and live roaches, in a subsequent inspection back in August 2015. The owners apparently decided the original Eldridge Street location couldn’t be improved and decided to jump ship — which, given the poor conditions of the last space, is probably a good choice.
