Since sisters Hannah and Marian Cheng opened Mimi Cheng’s in the East Village in July of 2014, they’ve cultivated a sense of community around their dumplings — similar to the trajectories of Two Hands and Maman, which opened around the same time. It’s fitting, then, that the Cheng sisters are working on a second location at 380 Broome Street, set to open in mid to late spring. Like the original outpost, this one will have a few tables, and though Marian says that the menu will evolve a bit, you can expect similar offerings: Taiwanese-Chinese dumplings, made fresh with organic ingredients like local, pasture-raised pork.
