This morning, Michelin announced its always-perplexing picks for the 2016 edition of the New York City Bib Gourmand list, a group of restaurants that are ostensibly more affordable than the restaurants on the starred list. This year’s register checks in at 133 restaurants, 27 of which weren’t on last year’s list — though one of those, Coppelia, had been on prior lists.
More notably, the Queens outpost of Thai favorite Zabb Elee appears to have been demoted to Bib status after being awarded a single Michelin star last year, an honor it shared with restaurants like Del Posto and Gramercy Tavern. Brand-new additions to the list include Hometown Bar-B-Que, Mu Ramen, Oiji, and Untitled.
In any event, here’s the full list, complete with all of its out-of-left-field inclusions and even a closed restaurant (Do or Dine), as well as one that’s soon to reopen as a different concept (Yunnan Kitchen).
