Competition Is Stiff for the Beer-Mile World Record

It’s a proud day to be North American, people. Lewis Kent, of Ontario, Canada, has set a new record in the beer mile (for the uninitiated: chug a beer, run a quarter mile, do that again three more times), yanking the title away from some poor Australian sap whose one-second-slower time earlier this weekend was, by some hilariously cruel twist of luck, the world’s fastest for less than 24 hours.

BeerMile.com, the unofficial record keeper, has yet to certify either time, but Kent’s is right here on tape in all its glory, so pay the Western Hemisphere some respect today by setting aside a quick 4 minutes and 55 seconds.
