The Poor Planner’s Last-Minute Guide to Mother’s Day Brunch

Newsflash: This Sunday is Mother’s Day, but if you haven’t made a reservation by now, there’s still hope. Grub’s got your back: These 17 restaurants are business as usual — which means you can either stroll right in for brunch as a walk-in, or grab one of the still-available tables. You’re welcome.

Acme
Availability: Tables available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Reservations at this downtown hot spot are still up for grabs, and you can order dishes like corn crepes with poached pears, chocolate, and ricotta.

All’onda
Availability: Tables available from 11:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Enjoy some Venetian fare like risotto, arancini, and more with your mom here.

Bar Primi
Availability: Tables available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Get here early so you can nab a seat outside, and then feast on pasta and tiramisu.

Bar Sardine
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
Gabriel Stulman’s West Village bar, which only accepts walk-ins, is the perfect place to dine on a beautiful day.

Buvette
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
Same with Buvette, where no reservations are expected. It can get a bit crowded, though, so be prepared to wait for your soft-scrambled eggs and currant scones.

Egg
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
This Williamsburg mainstay has a killer fried oyster sandwich that will surely please any mother (and child).

Estela
Availability: 2:30 p.m.
Ignacio Mattos’ reservation is filling up quickly, so don’t sit on the opening.

Jack’s Wife Freda
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
Now that there are two locations of Jack’s Wife Freda, the wait-time isn’t so bad. Pro tip: Order the poached eggs with haloumi and roasted tomatoes.

Lafayette
Availability: 10:15, 10:30 a.m.
This will surely be one of the most popular Mother’s Day destinations in town, so play it safe by grabbing a table on the other side. Alternatively, you can stop by for pastries and take them to-go.

Nightingale 9
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
Out in Carroll Gardens, you and your mother can enjoy a Vietnamese brunch, with dishes like a bánh xeo waffle.

Prune
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
It’s a special occasion, after all, so what better day to try your hand at scoring a seat here? Again, it’s in your best interest to arrive early.

RedFarm
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
A dim-sum brunch is the perfect way to celebrate a loved one.

Red Rooster
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
While all reservations are taken, this lively Harlem spot is accepting walk-ins. Fried chicken for all!

Reynard
Availability: Tables available at 11:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.
Only the coolest mothers go to brunch inside trendy Williamsburg hotels.

Uncle Boon’s
Availability: Walk-in customers accepted.
The Thai restaurant in Nolita reserves most of it’s dining room for walk-ins, and serves dishes like baked eggs in green curry.

Vic’s
Availability: Tables available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Chef Hilary Sterling’s menu includes poached eggs with lamb sausage and polenta, and a ramp frittata.
