Debuting today at Starbucks, in honor of the Seattle-based coffee chain’s home team making it all the way to Super Bowl XLIX, is this limited-edition drink. The Seahawks frap is a “Vanilla Bean Crème handcrafted beverage blended with blueberries and topped with green tea matcha-infused whip cream,” which is a veritable offensive tackle of trends that don’t involve coffee. Despite its healthy-seeming dimensions, those green and bluish elements are of course just a perfunctory nod to team colors, and perhaps wisely, the chain is only rolling out the Seahawks drink in select markets in the Pacific Northwest. Hopefully this will be the end of food-related football tie-ins in a season that saw scores of deflated football cookies and outright civic bans on cheese. There’s even been a “cleanse” based on all 62 fast-food meals advertised during the playoffs, though, so there’s probably a little room left in the world for a red and blue Dunkaccino.
