Bonelle Pastry Shop, the tiny Forest Hills bakery that had been hit with an eviction notice last fall right around the same time Dunkin’ Donuts signed a lease on a neighboring storefront, has been granted a reprieve of sorts from its management company. Founder Rahita Ravel, who has been turning out ace hamantaschen and cookies for the past 23 years, tells DNAinfo she is now paying 15 percent more in rent and will continue to operate, at least temporarily. In a welcome twist on the increasingly common fast-food-chainification narrative, even the local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisor stood up for the plucky bakery.
