New York’s filled with excellent omakase options: Sushi Nakazawa, Sushi Ko, Tanoshi … and those are only the recent additions to the city’s Japanese scene. But a few weeks ago, former Neta chefs Nick Kim and Jimmy Lau opened a 20-seat omakase-only restaurant, and the early word is that it’s a true contender that’s worth the high price of admission — $135 for a sushi tasting, and $175 for a combination of sushi and composed dishes. The latter includes dishes like lobster with smoked bacon and truffles, seared squab, and, perhaps surprisingly, a slice of apple pie to finish things off. Take a look and decide for yourself if it’s worth the splurge. (Grub’s opinion: It is.)
