San Francisco–based start-up Kitchit says it’s raised $7.5 million through Javelin Venture Partners for expansion, meaning restaurant-quality food will soon be heading for more tables without the added hassle of, say, abducting a chef. You can bring in Floyd Cardoz or Dominique Crenn, though you’ll have to “inquire” about her rates.

The company also offers something called Kitchit Tonight, a same-day three-course-dinner service meant to be “as easy and affordable as going out to a full-service restaurant.” Diners pay $39 each ($9 for children), and the service can be booked as late as 1 p.m., and includes a chef who tidies up in the kitchen when done but who probably won’t polish those copper pans you never use.
