Father and son infighting has resulted in a fresh batch of lawsuits and countersuits at Juice Press, that two-dozen-strong empire of cold-pressed fruit and green leafy things. Marcus Antebi, the founder of the ever-popular Grub Street Diet venue and erstwhile home of the $18 smoothie, allegedly disagrees with his father, David, who owns an Upper East Side franchise and sells unsanctioned juices such as the “Chia Fireball” and “Apple Cobbler.” These admittedly sound like a party stunt and a novelty Starbucks latte, respectively, and the older Antebi even apparently put up a sign identifying his Third Avenue spot as the “only independently owned and operated Juice Press store.” Let’s hope everyone gets it together while there are still kids to get hooked on five-day detox regimens and New York hot dog institutions to ruin with master cleanses.
