Ravi DeRossi sends word that Gin Palace, part of his East Village bar complex that includes the bitters-themed Amor y Amargo and rum-fueled Cienfuegos, is right now sinking into the East Village. He means this literally. Construction permits indicate that a sidewalk shed is about to go up in advance of structural work, which DeRossi says will leave Gin Palace “torn apart.” Its two companion bars will remain open, but Gin Palace’s final day is November 6. Construction is expected to take at least two months, and a reopening is planned for next year, but keep in mind that there are just a few days left to go in and get a G&T; on tap.
