They’re rapidly being phased out no matter what, but a Baltimore pizza place has a pretty good deal going for anybody who’s looking to shed any unwanted Ray Rice jerseys. Hersh’s Pizza and Drinks will give you a hot kale-and-pistachio pie, or a guanciale-and-chili one, or any of its other wood-fired pizzas, no questions asked, for your trouble.
“It’s kind of like a gun buyback,” owner Stephanie Hershkovitz says. “We thought it would be a great way to express our disgust at the whole thing.” Besides the free pie, the restaurant is also making a $2.70 donation with every jersey handed over — Rice’s number was 27 — to the House of Ruth, a Maryland women’s shelter.
