It was announced today that Tejal Rao will join Bloomberg Pursuits’ digital spin-off as food editor and restaurant critic. Rao, who won the Beard Foundation’s Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award for her work at the Village Voice, has since worked for Saveur and Tasting Table. Her move to the site makes Rao one of New York’s few women restaurant critics.

Full plans for the spin-off have not yet been announced, but Rao will file regular reviews, which Ryan Sutton wrote before joining Eater in March. Her writing will appear on a new Bloomberg site on luxury helmed by Chris Rovzar, a former Vanity Fair and New York editor, as well as in a new print publication that launches in 2015 and should be bimonthly by the “end of the year.” Expect to start reading her work in September.
