Real-estate developer Horace Bullard, who once controlled plenty of Coney Island real estate, died in 2013, leaving the decrepit and palatial Theatre Building, which is directly across from Nathan’s Famous on Surf Avenue. (This is the place with the abandoned, frozen-in-time Kansas Fried Chicken at the base.) The structure was designated a city landmark in 2010, and now a “very well-known restaurateur” from Manhattan says he wants to open a cooking school on its lower floors and turn the top two floors into a sprawling restaurant. Despite offers from billionaires, developers, and at least one “nationally known athlete,” however, Bullard’s daughter Jasmine reportedly won’t even field offers. [BDE]
