Rob Newton and Kerry Diamond have moved Nightingale 9 to a larger space in Carroll Gardens, and they’re officially reopening the Vietnamese restaurant tonight at 329 Smith Street. The menu includes old favorites like the shredded green papaya salad, as well as some new dishes, like watermelon with Thai basil and crab paste, fried frog legs with curry butter, and grilled quail with ginger and fresh cherries. (And a full liquor license!) The restaurant, which used to house Seersucker, also got a slight makeover. If you’re feeling extra ambitious, start by eating the fried-bologna sandwich at Wilma Jean — Newton and Diamond’s brand-new Southern restaurant — and then walk down Smith Street for a second course of pork shoulder with rice sheets.
