The Chain Gang

IHOP Just Introduced NYC’s Saddest Outdoor Dining Option

There’s nothing like a stack of Jelly Donut Pancakes on a hot July afternoon, taken alfresco while cabs and NYU summer students breeze by: That must be the thinking behind the new sidewalk seating that IHOP unveiled at its 14th Street location. Per EV Grieve, some fine metal patio seats went out yesterday and, presumably, won’t be taken back in until the weather cools down. With the West Village shop shut down forever, it seems the breakfast chain will do anything to get into New Yorkers’ good graces, but allowing people to suffer through a meal on a charmless stretch of concrete probably isn’t going to help.
