Carvel’s 80-Cent Cone Celebration; Ridley Scott Plans a Marco Pierre White Biopic

• Carvel, which turns 80 this year, is directing customers to its Facebook page, where they can print out coupons to get an 80-cent cone of vanilla, chocolate, or the chain’s new Nutella soft-serve this Sunday only. [Grub Street]

• More proof that everything’s coming up mozzarella: Obicà will open its newest, cheese-filled bar on Monday, July 21 at 928 Broadway in Flatiron. [MadParkNews]

• Dan Silverman launches Sunday Supper at the Regency Bar & Grill this weekend. The menu includes oxtail agnolotti with celery, pignolis, and currants, and striped bass with beans and heirloom tomatoes. Pastry chef Jeff Sytsma’s dessert is vanilla buttermilk panna cotta with peach Melba sorbet and raspberries. The cost is $50. [Grub Street]

• Marco Pierre White may be best known — on this side of the Atlantic, anyway — as the British chef who briefly had an ill-fated competitive cooking show around the same time he shilled for Knorr bouillon, which is all a shame. While he most often gets recognized for mentoring Gordon Ramsay, he was incredibly influential, and his 2007 memoir, which was just optioned by Ridley Scott, is a really great story. • Keizo Shimamoto, otherwise known as the creator of the formidable ramen burger mash-up, is about to debut a menu of tsukemen, or dipping noodles, to supplant those steaming bowls of ramen during the summer’s hottest days, at his restaurant Ramen.Co. The noodles, which are made with tapioca, are custom made by ramen giant Sun Noodle. [Grub Street]

• A U.K. court ruled that a waiter who dreamed his boss won the lottery and subsequently convinced him to buy a ticket is in fact entitled to half of the real-life winnings. Fatih Ozcan toils at his boss’s Turkish restaurant during the day but is “a strong believer in the power of dreams” by night. The lottery win of more than a million dollars caused a rift, and now Ozcan will get $875,000 for his trouble. [Telegraph UK]
