Sunday was the last day of regular business at Zoe, Zoe Feigenbaum’s almost-three-year-old Eldridge Street restaurant. In an email, Feigenbaum tells Grub she is grateful to have been able to realize the dream of owning her own place: “Not all restaurants are iconic and get to stick around for ten or fifteen years,” she says. “As a chef, timing is everything: you gotta know when to pull something out of the oven.” Family Recipe and Sorella, two other Lower East Side restaurants with female chef-owners, recently announced closures; like those establishments, Zoe specialized in a menu referencing its chef’s influences and personal style and had a devoted following. Feigenbaum says she is already at work on her next project, but will first take some time off. [Related, Related]
