The Times tracked down the wd~50 chef, who casually announced the closure of his vastly influential restaurant last night on Twitter. After consideration, Dufresne said he realized he had underestimated how much the incoming seven-story residential construction project planned for the site would affect business at the modernist restaurant. “We weren’t going to be able to give the diners the same experience we’d been giving them,” he says.
