In anticipation of the kinds of Candyland-ish imagery that might appear on the shelves of Washington’s first edibles stores, the state has enacted “emergency” rules to help ensure that pot-infused snack labels and packaging don’t target minors. The rules prohibit cartoons, and images of “toys” are also obviously banned. Announcing the news yesterday, Governor Jay Inslee said he anticipates creative small-batch-edibles producers to invoke First Amendment rights, but he’s ready for the fight because the children are his “paramount concern.” [NYT, Related]
