Grub hears that chef Rob Newton, who owns Seersucker, Nightingale 9, and Smith Canteen with Kerry Diamond, will develop and oversee the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s public dining and catering menus. It’s a collaboration with the Patina Restaurant Group, which operates restaurants at venues like Grand Central and Lincoln Center. This October, Newton will reopen the Garden’s café with food that’s seasonally driven and locally sourced, and the glass-walled space will stay open year-round. Fresh food, lovely views of the Lily Pool Terrace … It all sounds pretty perfect.
