Network executives confirm that producers Jake Kasdan (New Girl) and Nahnatchka Khan (Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23) will bring the childhood exploits of TV host and Baohaus chef Eddie Huang to life in the forthcoming show Fresh Off the Boat, based on Huang’s 2013 memoir of the same name. Here’s how the show is logged: “It’s the 90s and 12 year old, hip-hop loving Eddie (Hudson Yang) just moved to suburban Orlando from DC’s Chinatown with his parents (Randall Park and Constance Wu). It’s culture shock for his immigrant family in this comedy about pursuing the American Dream.” From the looks of his Instagram, the chef spent the weekend celebrating, and even his mother, who’s been known not to mince words when offering career advice, seems somewhat pleased with the turn of events.
