This morning, Times critic Pete Wells tweeted out a somewhat cryptic message: “Jean-Georges was last reviewed by the Times in 2006 … I’ll give it a fresh look later today.” Coming from the critic that downgraded Daniel to three stars, the message probably gave fits to staffers within the Vongerichten restaurant empire. Not to worry, though, as Wells’s review upholds the restaurant’s four-star status. It’s “the most elegant modern dining room in the city,” and the food — especially spice-crusted squab with nasturtium hot sauce — is outrageously good. As you were. [NYT]
