Last night Oscar Murillo, a Colombian artist who’s now based in London, launched a new show at Chelsea’s David Zwirner gallery. The “A Mercantile Novel” exhibit re-creates a candy-making factory, and in collaboration with Colombina (a food company in Murillo’s hometown, where his family members have worked), thousands of chocolate-covered marshmallows will be produced and given away for free. Thirteen Colombina workers have actually come to work at the gallery — and Murillo wants the exhibit to start a conversation about migration. Today through June 14, you can pick up the candy (wrapped in shiny packaging designed by Murillo) and share your experience online.
