Taco Night at Empellón; Taste of 7th Street Tickets Available

• This weekend, March 8 and 9, seven restaurants located along one stretch of East 7th Street are teaming up for the third annual Taste of 7th Street, a mini food festival featuring offerings from vendors like Luke’s Lobster, Caracas Arepa Bar, and Big Gay Ice Cream. • Japan Week, the multi-day festival that runs from March 6 through 8 at Grand Central’s Vanderbilt Hall will feature a 100-year-old Taisho-themed bar featuring exclusive sake from various regions of Japan, an amezaiku (traditional folk art involving sculpting taffy into shapes like rabbits and turtles) event, and, of course, a mochi-pounding ceremony. Empellón Taqueria is serving a taco tasting menu tonight. The menu features six brand-new tacos with fillings such as dry-aged sirloin tartare, braised short ribs, and deviled eggs.
