L’Apicio’s Bloody Mary Contest; Pho at Grindhaus

• A one-night event to raise money to build housing in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan will take place at Bagatelle on January 27 from 8 to 11 p.m. The evening will feature dishes from heavy hitters like Paul Liebrandt, George Mendes, Michael White, and Andrew Carmellini, as well as cocktails from Joaquin Simo of Pouring Ribbons and Jillian Vose of Death & Co. Grindhaus will now offer pho on Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. The restaurant’s version of the classic Vietnamese noodle soup features a beef-bone broth. [Grub Street]

• The third annual Eat, Drink, & Bloody Mary contest will be held at L’Apicio on February 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will feature over seventeen restaurants battling it out to prove that their Bloody Mary recipe is best.
