The lawsuit-happy coffee giant is suing New Jersey–based Wellshire Farms for allegedly substituting an “inferior product” for the Black Forest ham it had selected for its ready-to-eat sandwiches. The lawsuit contends that customers began reporting that the ham had an “unusual taste and appeared spoiled,” after a year or so without issues, in 2010, and the chain even found “potentially harmful bacteria” after laboratory testing. While Starbucks contends it discovered Wellshire was using ham from a Maryland company, the supplier rejects all the claims, reports USA Today. [USAT, Earlier]
