Former Gourmet head honcho Ruth Reichl’s debut novel doesn’t come out for another 100 days — we counted — but Random House has just updated its webpage for Delicious! with the book’s final cover art, which looks a bit like “The Bicycle Thief goes to the salumeria.” The official description of the title, about a “young woman who must find the courage to let go of the past in order to embrace her own true gifts,” is sparse on details, so we’ll just add to that what we’ve heard, which is that the novel covers an intricate, expansive tale of sisters, New York City, and, of course, artisanal food purveyors. Secrets abound, and a mysterious, 50-year-old correspondence between a girl from Ohio and the legendary James Beard plays a crucial role in the plot. Delicious! comes out May 6, and the food-world luminary will follow it up with two more novels. [Random House, Earlier]
