Owner Paul Morgan brought Nelson Blue, his lower Manhattan restaurant, back to life on New Year’s Eve. The New Zealand–inspired restaurant at the corner of Front Street and Peck Slip had been out of commission since the Seaport flooded during Hurricane Sandy on October 28, 2012. The dining room has been restored to its pre-storm condition, a process that involved dismantling some hand-carved wood and sending it to Italy for repairs. (It’s “better than new,” Morgan says.) Otherwise, the wine wall is back and stocked with bottles and the kitchen has been refurbished. While Nelson Blue is serving a snack menu right now, drinks are being poured ad customers can expect full service to return within the week. [DNAInfo]
