The 7,000-square-foot space in Gramercy that was last home to barbecue restaurant Wildwood will next become an Italian restaurant tentatively called Floriana, the Post reports. Brooklyn Diner, Trattoria dell’Arte, and Café Fiorello restaurateur Shelly Fireman says to expect something different. “The menu won’t be like our others,” he tells Steve Cuozzo, explaining that the restaurant group has been “schlepping around Italy” for inspiration. Theater- and movie-set designer David Korins has been enlisted to remake the space, which will also “boast bronze sculptures by Fireman himself.” Wildwood Barbecue closed earlier this month after six years on Park Avenue South.
