Owner Avtar Walia is closing Tamarind Flatiron just a few weeks shy of its thirteenth anniversary, because the site of the East 22nd Street restaurant will become a new building. December 31 will be the Michelin-starred dining room’s last day, but Walia says all staff (and the menu) will migrate downtown to merge with the three-year-old, 11,000-square-foot Tamarind Tribeca, forming a mega-Tamarind. For the restaurant’s finale, and in celebration of New Year’s Eve, Walia says Tamarind Flatiron will roll out many à la carte options from previous menus to commemorate the occasion. [Related]
