A group of thieves broke into a Sacramento church on Friday and made off with every last piece of food the church had collected — turkeys and everything else — to serve to the community on Thanksgiving. “It’s kind of gut-wrenching,” the church’s youth minister tells CBS. “They took all of the turkeys that we had, all of the trimmings, potatoes, yams.” This is just about the worst thing ever, but in true storybook fashion, the community is rallying: To show those thieves the real spirit of the holiday, donations have been pouring in since the news broke — including a lock for the chest freezer where the Butterballs are kept.
