Pizza Hut Manager Loses Job After Refusing to Open on Thanksgiving

Tony Rohr says he worked his way up through the ranks at the Pizza Hut in Elkhart, Indiana, over the last ten years, eventually reaching the top position of general manager. According to local CBS affiliate WSBT 22, this year Rohr was told he would have to open the restaurant on Thanksgiving, but he questioned the decision, asking, “Why can’t we be the company that stands up and says we care about our employees and they can have the day off?” After that idea was immediately shot down, Rohr says he was given a letter of resignation and told to sign. Instead, he wrote a letter to his immediate boss explaining his position and then tried to contact Pizza Hut’s corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas. You can probably imagine how that went.
