
Tomorrow, Crumbs is introducing a new shop on East 8th Street that sells cupcakes, breads, and pastries made in a completely gluten- and peanut-free bakery. If you recall, the company’s stock dropped from $13 to $1.70 a share back in April, giving New Yorkers false hope that the cupcake renaissance had ended. Things have only gotten worse since then: Breaking Bad–themed cupcakes caused political drama, Mario Batali is adding mayonnaise to his cupcakes, and now there’s a dairy-free, gluten-free Crumbs flavor called the “Squiggle.” [Earlier, Earlier, NYDN]
