Next year, China will replace Canada as Starbucks’ second-largest market (after the U.S.), and the coffee chain is opening its 1,000th Chinese location later this year. To mark the occasion — and keep tea-drinking people in China interested in coffee shops — Starbucks will open two flagships in Beijing. One will be two stories tall, have 4,000 square feet of space, and feature a massive mermaid logo outside “that illuminates at night and can be seen from blocks away.” The other location will be open 24 hours “with a special club on the second floor that features live music on weekends.” [USAT]
