The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts is suing retailer Williams-Sonoma for using the late chef’s name and likeness to promote contests and its brand, the L.A. Times reports. A spokesperson from the foundation says its immediate goal is to get the company to remove all traces of Julia from its online presence and social media accounts. After that it will, oh, well, maybe seek some damages in the process. “Given the value of today’s food celebrities, the value will be in the millions of dollars,” a lawyer for the foundation says. This isn’t the first lawsuit of its kind involving the chef, but the amount of coq au vin on the line is likely some kind of record. [LAT via Eater, Earlier]
