Turns out that major-restaurant closing news isn’t limited to Michelin titan Gastón Acurio’s Flatiron endeavor today: The New York Times now reports that Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto will close his space-agey comfort-food izakaya Tribeca Canvas and reopen next month with new partners and a “revamped” concept. The restaurant’s next iteration will be known simply as Canvas, reports Florence Fabricant, and the restaurant will debut with an interior makeover. We’re guessing those gonzo corn dogs and the rock-shrimp nachos with guac, ranch dressing, and gochujang aïoli won’t be making it to the menu’s second act. [NYT, Earlier, Related]
