Umami Burger’s First New York City Location Opens in One Week

Umamified.
Umamified.

It was pretty much two years ago that Adam Fleischman confirmed to Grub Street that Umami Burger was opening in New York. Later we learned that the chainlet’s Greenwich Village location would be flanked by two more, at Brookfield Place and in Williamsburg, and one seriously intense umami-fied burger discourse later, everyone’s ready to try these things, which is why it’s great that the Times says the hamburger chain will open for business next Monday at 432 Sixth Avenue. Florence Fabricant gets a preview of the “10 or so” burger choices, which run anywhere between $10 and $15 and include custom NYC French Dip-style and duck varieties. There’s a full bar and cocktail list, cheesy tots (“warm little fried potato pillows”), and, best of all, the 128-seat restaurant has waiter service on both floors. [NYT, Related]
