The publisher of the upcoming Female Force: Paula Deen wants you to know his company isn’t “jumping on the bandwagon” by publishing a comic book that celebrates the embattled celebrity chef as a symbol of empowerment. “She really changed cooking — and Southern cooking — for women,” says Darren G. Davis, president at Bluewater. Nothing says female empowerment, of course, like Gruyère and cream-cheese-stuffed deep-fried lasagna, or an enormous sandwich layered with mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers. [Reuters]
