Just a month after opening a Philadelphia outpost, Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg creators Eric Demby and Jonathan Butler have announced plans for District Flea, which will run for six consecutive Saturdays starting September 14 in Washington, D.C. The new market will be comprised of about 150 vendors, including prepared food businesses, and also the same kinds of small batch jam and jerky makers who sell out of stalls at Smorgasburg, and will occupy 37,000 square feet of space at 945 Florida Avenue in the U Street neighborhood. All you congressional aides with dreams of owning your own merguez sandwich truck are in luck. The Washington Post reports the new endeavor is still searching for vendors. [Washington Post, Earlier]
