It was just a week ago that the ever-spiffy celebrity chef was in Birmingham christening his newish restaurant Todd English P.U.B. — it opened in February, AL.com explained, but this was the first time the restaurateur had a chance to check the place out. “Birmingham and Alabama as a state seem to be growing,” said English, who’s now apparently continued his whirlwind tour on to Washington, D.C., where he also visited his brand-new Metro Center restaurant, MXDC, which is Mexican. “The area is really emerging,” he says. Anyway, the Über-chef says he’s next headed to NYC, where he’ll open another MX. Expect four to six ceviches (including one with “blue cheese”) and octopus tacos. There’s no name yet, the Washington Business Journal reports but says English is “considering keeping it consistent with this one and naming it MXNYC.” [WBJ]
